Privacy Policy

Wajibo is a flashcard tool for classrooms, made by K12TeacherTools LLC. This page says exactly what we store, who can see it, and how to have it deleted. It is short because we collect very little.

What we store about students

For a student whose teacher created their account, we hold:

• A display name — a first name and last initial, or a nickname. The teacher chooses it and can change it at any time.
• A username we generate, like SwiftFox091. It is not derived from the student’s name.
• A password, stored only as a bcrypt hash. Nobody, including us, can read it back.
• Their work — which cards they have answered, how well, and scores on assignments their teacher set.

We do notcollect a student’s last name, email address, date of birth, age, phone number, address, photograph, or location. There is no advertising in Wajibo, no third-party analytics or tracking, and we do not sell or share student data with anyone.

What we store about teachers

Teachers sign in with an email address through Clerk, our authentication provider. We store the name and email address Clerk gives us, the classes and decks you create, and the date you confirmed you are a K-12 educator.

Why we can do this without asking parents

Under COPPA, a school may consent on a parent’s behalf for a tool used for a purely educational purpose. Wajibo is used that way: a teacher creates the accounts, the data stays inside their class, and it is used for nothing but studying and reporting progress to that teacher. This is why we ask for a student’s age nowhere — collecting a birthday would mean holding more personal information, not less.

Teachers confirm when enabling teaching that they are a K-12 educator and that their use of Wajibo with student data follows their school or district’s policies.

Who can see a student’s work

The student, and the teacher of a class they are in. Nobody else. Students cannot see each other’s scores.

Deleting data

A teacher can delete a student, a whole class, or their entire account from inside Wajibo. Deletion is immediate and complete — the records are removed from the database, not hidden or archived.

Anyone can also ask us to delete data by writing to support@k12teachertools.com. We act on verified requests within 48 hours.

Who else touches the data

• Neon — the database where classes, rosters and progress are stored.
• Clerk — teacher sign-in. Clerk never sees student accounts, because students do not sign in through it.
• Render — hosting.

These providers process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it otherwise.

Changes

If we change what we collect, we will update this page and its date. If a change is significant, we will tell teachers directly.
